We have been around for a long time, opening our first restaurant in 2000. We brought chicken and waffles for the first time to Bakersfield and we have kept the same recipe since. Our fried chicken recipe came from my mother, so we call it Clara's fried chicken. As a kid, I remember my mother cooking fried chicken and smelling it for blocks, anxiously waiting for dinner with her chilli beans and cornbread. It was so good, everybody wanted her to cook for them.
To this day, when we cook chicken you will smell it for blocks. We do not pre-cook our chicken, but instead make it as soon as you order it!
We take pride in our cooking. We do not cut corners - everything has to be fresh and has to have the best quality product. And that is what you will taste.
